BIDDEFORD, ME – October 9, 2026 – The Maine Mariners, proud affiliates of the NHL's Boston Bruins and AHL's Providence Bruins, opened the preseason with a convincing 7-2 victory over the Worcester Railers on Friday night at the Harold Alfond Forum on the Campus of the University of New England. Thirteen difference players found the scoresheet, led by three-point games from Max Andreev and Jack Works.
The Mariners came out firing early, scoring three goals in the first 5:05 of the opening period. Captain Wyllum Deveaux netted the opening tally with a one-timer from the right circle just 1:34 into the game. Andreev and Works followed with goals at 3:11 and 5:05 to open the early lead. Later in the frame, David Janowski placed a wrister to the short side of Parker Gahagen to make it a 4-0 Maine lead through the first 20 minutes.
It became a 5-0 game midway through the second period when defenseman Jack Bar cleaned up a Works net drive at 9:29. The Railers finally solved Maine netminder Luke Cavallin with a power play goal by MacAuley Carson at 9:53. Maine's Ben Allison followed with back-to-back goals at 13:13 and 16:16, putting Maine up 7-1. A barrage of penalties would follow after Matt Hobbs' collision with Cavallin. Four players received misconducts as the result of the ensuing altercations.
Worcester's Michael Suda netted the lone goal of a less eventful third period. Cavallin stopped 12 of 13 shots through 40 minutes before Christian Propp played the third period. Gahagen and Chase Clark split the duties in net for the Railers.
