TROIS-RIVIERES, QC – October 30, 2026 – The Maine Mariners, proud affiliates of the NHL's Boston Bruins and AHL's Providence Bruins, dealt the Trois-Rivieres their first loss of the season with a 3-2 overtime win on Friday night at Colisee Videotron. Linus Hemstrom scored the game-winner at 2:32 of sudden death to secure Maine's third consecutive win.
The night began with a strong performance in net by Luke Cavallin, who made 17 saves in the opening period to keep the game scoreless.
The Mariners netted first goal of the night on the power play midway through the second when Bruins prospect Kalle Vaisanen banged home his first ECHL goal on the doorstep at 11:45 of the middle frame. With Cavallin continuing to make big saves, the Lions finally solved him with just over two minutes to play when Anthony Beauregard jumped on a puck deflecting through the slot and made it a 1-1 game after 40 minutes.
Another Maine power play goal restored their lead at 3:12 of the third period, when Max Andreev found Robert Cronin in the slot, who beat Francesco Lapenna with a perfect shot high to the stick side. It looked like the Mariners would hold on, but Trois-Rivieres forward Mathieu Bizier deflected a point shot out of the air with 19 seconds remaining to tie the game and force overtime.
Just over two-and-a-half minutes into sudden death, Nick Anderson and Max Andreev sprung Linus Hemstrom with a drive to the net. After LaPenna stopped his first shot, Hemstrom batted the rebound home to win the game. Cavallin made 34 stops to earn his second win of the season, while Lapenna made 30 saves in the loss.
