PORTLAND, ME – September 8, 2026 – The Maine Mariners, proud affiliates of the NHL's Boston Bruins and AHL's Providence Bruins, have signed defenseman Xavier Henry to a contract for the 2026-27 season. Coming from the University of Vermont, Henry made his professional debut with the Mariners in March.
A 6’5, 216-pound defenseman from Scarborough, ON, Henry signed with the Mariners on an amateur tryout in mid-March and debuted on March 13th against the Norfolk Admirals. Henry then returned to Vermont to finish the school year.
The 25-year-old blue liner appeared in just eight games in his senior season but totaled 74 contests over his four collegiate seasons. He accumulated 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) over his UVM career.
Prior to college, Henry played in the British Columbia Hockey League, skating in 105 games over three seasons with the Chilliwack Chiefs, where he wore an “A” in his final season.

The Mariners 2026-27 season begins on Saturday, October 17th at Worcester with the Home Opener one week later on Saturday, October 24th, a 1 PM puck drop against the Railers.
